Anthony Joshua looking forward to rest after IBF title defence

Anthony Joshua wants to take some time to recharge his batteries before a potential second defence of his IBF heavyweight title against Joseph Parker.

The 26-year-old stopped American Dominic Breazeale in seven rounds at London's 02 Arena to retain his title at the first time of asking.

Joshua was hoping to meet Tyson Fury at the end of the year but an ankle injury postponed his WBA, WBO and IBO title fight with Wladimir Klitschko and it is expected Joshua will next face mandatory challenger Parker of New Zealand.

Joshua told Sky Sports Box Office: " It's been tough. I only had two weeks off after my last fight and got straight back in the gym so it's tough. I can have a nice little break for once and come back with recharged batteries."

And of his next opponent , Joshua added: "Well it's going to have to be the likes of Parker. I was really looking at Tyson Fury. I hope he gets better soon, he hurt his ankle unfortunately which has postponed it as I was hoping to get that sometime in the winter if everything went well July 9th like it did tonight.

"We're going to have to reschedule that and in the meantime look at other opponents like Parker if he's vacant or anybody else that the people want.

"I need to rest. I'm tired. I'm working hard. And now I can get some rest and recharge my batteries and start afresh again."
