Kell Brook insists he feels "unbeatable" as he prepares for a second title defence when he is challenged by Frankie Gavin on May 30.
The 28-year-old IBF welterweight champion defended his title against Jo Jo Dan in his home town of Sheffield last month but is now ready to step back into the ring to take on Gavin as a meeting with Amir Khan continues to prove illusive.
Khan will instead face Chris Algieri as he looks for a path to face Floyd Mayweather at some point in the future.
Gavin told Press Association Sport on Wednesday he believes Khan took the wrong option but he will be the man who benefits from that after he was announced as Brook's opponent when the duo headline at London's O2 Arena next month.
Brook remains in confident mood ahead of the bout, even if he respects Gavin as a fighter. "I never expected to be out again so quickly but I can't wait," he said as the fight was announced by Matchroom.
"I respect Frankie for stepping up, he has called for this fight for a long time and after he was given a final eliminator against Tim Bradley it made sense for him to take the challenge.
"I feel like I'm unbeatable right now and Gavin isn't going to be able to cope with my speed and power on fight night."
Brook was in good form as he saw off Romanian Dan with a fourth-round stoppage but Gavin believes he will be in perfect shape to take his first world title.
Brook impressed last time out during his classy fourth round stoppage over Dan and will now be eager to produce another strong performance against Gavin, who was England's first ever world amateur champion after taking gold in the 2007 World Championships in Chicago.
Gavin said: "These are the fights you want to be part of and are where I belong.
"I've dreamt of a world title and I will be 100 per cent ready physically and mentally for Kell Brook.
"Of course it's going to be tough but I believe Kell is beatable and I've always felt that I have got the skills and the team to cause an upset."
The fight will headline an event with several other big British names included on the card as Kevin Mitchell looks to take the WBC lightweight belt from Jorge Linares, whilst Anthony Joshua will continue his rise up the professional ranks as he meets Kevin Johnson.
