Mutley not ready for me - Gavin

Birmingham welterweight star Frankie Gavin says ex-British champion Young Mutley will not be able to cope with him when they meet on May 21 in London.Gavin, 25, takes on the 34-year-old Mutley, from West Bromwich, for the WBO Inter-continental title. "He's definitely not going to be ready for me. I set a pace that no-one he's boxed sets," Gavin told BBC WM. "He's not going to go 12 rounds. He's not as fit as me and once I start landing his heart's going to go." Gavin, Britain's first-ever amateur World Champion, has a perfect record with nine wins since turning professional in February 2009 and is confident of making it 10. "If I do what I do and box and move and use my slickness then I'm going to come out on top," Gavin said. He's a good fighter and the golden boy so if I beat him all the doors will open for me. Young Mutley on fighting Frankie Gavin "It's a decent test, he can punch but he's more or less said that's all he can do. He knows he can't out-box me." Mutley is a former British welterweight champion and has fought for the European and Commonwealth titles in his 34-fight career and says Gavin should be wary. "He hasn't fought anyone like me. No-one as strong as me and no-one who can punch as hard as me so we'll see what happens," he told BBC WM. Although he has not fought for 13 months, Mutley knows upsetting Gavin at the O2 Arena will catapult him back into the limelight. "If I win this fight I'll be back up there in the ratings and I'll be able to get a British title fight. "He's a good fighter and the golden boy so if I beat him all the doors will open for me."
