Gold for Barnes
Paddy Barnes claimed Ireland's first European Amateur Championships gold medal for 19 years with a thoroughly convincing 4-1 win over Elvin Mamishzade of Azerbaijan.
The Belfast light-flyweight boxed a calm and tight fight throughout, building on a 1-0 lead at the end of the first round to go 3-1 up at the end of the second.
Birmingham's Khalid Yafai, meanwhile, was forced to settle for a silver medal at the championships in Moscow after a 4-1 defeat in the flyweight final to home favourite Misha Aloyan.
Despite being the aggressor throughout, Yafai had to wait until the final seconds to score his only point - by which time Aloyan, who led 2-0 at the end of the second round, had victory in the bag.
