Khan fine after hospital tests
Amir Khan is back on track for a projected end-of-year super-fight in Britain after recovering from a fever which forced the world light-welterweight champion to spend two nights in hospital this week.
Khan was struck by the illness shortly after returning from South Africa where he had watched England bow out of the World Cup to Germany in the last 16.
But on Tuesday, Khan's father Shah insisted the world light-welterweight champion was in fine form and stepping up preparations for his next fight after beating Paulie Malignaggi in New York in May.
Shah Khan said: "Amir came home from South Africa feeling weak and by Sunday his temperature had risen quite high. He didn't collapse or anything like that, but he went to the Beaumont Hospital in Bolton.
"They kept him in for tests but they all came back fine and he came home on Tuesday morning.
"He has been told to get some rest but he will be fine to go to Las Vegas later this month to watch Juan Manuel Marquez fight Juan Diaz."
The winner of that world lightweight title showdown is likely to provide the next opponent for Khan some time after Ramadan, with December 11 a date the Khan camp are already working towards.
Shah Khan added: "We are looking at all our options and one thing Amir really wants to do is to come back and fight at home. There is every chance we could be looking at either Marquez or Diaz back here in December."
