Pryce ready for Sinclair revenge
Bradley Pryce is confident of beating his former conqueror Neil Sinclair when they meet in Prizefighter on Friday.Event favourite Pryce, 28, was stopped by the Belfast man in the eighth round of a British title fight back in 2003.
"It was man against boy then," said the Newbridge man. "This time it will be different, though - it's going to be man against old boy. I owe him."
Sinclair, 35, says winning the light-middleweight tournament at the York Hall could "open a lot of doors".
"This is a gamble but it's one I've got to take," said Sinclair, joint second favourite for the overall crown with Manchester's Prince Arron.
Who will win Prizefighter? "I'm not getting any younger and I want to see what I've got left.
"My last two fights have been good and [have] started a bit of a revival."
Danny Butler (Bristol), Brett Flournoy (Birkenhead), George Hillyard (Canning Town), Steve O'Meara (West Drayton) and Martin Concepcion (Leicester) complete the Prizefighter line-up.
The innovative, one-night tournament sees eight men competing in four quarter-finals of three rounds.
Sinclair is second favourite for the Prizefighter light-middleweight eventThe winners advance to the semi-final and then the final on the same night, each bout over three rounds.
"This is a massive gamble for me," said Enzo Calzaghe-trained Pryce who, like Sinclair, is a former Commonwealth champion.
"But you have got to have belief in yourself that you can beat the other seven guys, which I know I can, whether it's a three rounder or a 10 rounder.
"None of these guys would see the last bell with me in a 12-rounder so I'm coming out of my comfort zone.
"I'm a slow starter, I know that, because I like to come on strong in the later rounds.
"I've only stopped one guy inside three rounds in the last seven years - and that was Martin Concepcion who is in this Prizefighter."
