British featherweight Scott Quigg has announced he will team up with trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.

Quigg, who has lost just one bout in his professional career, has parted company with his former trainer Joe Gallagher.

Roach, 56, is still widely considered as one of the best coaches in the world and trains Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto. Amir Khan has also worked with the American for the past four years.

"I have moved up to featherweight with the goal of becoming a two-weight world champion and believe I need a fresh challenge to help me grow," Quigg, 28, said.

"Over the last few weeks I've been in America training and I'm delighted to announce I will be basing myself in Los Angeles at the Wild Card Gym working under the guidance of Freddie Roach.

"This is an opportunity that I couldn't pass up and I believe this move and change will take me to another level."

Quigg, who has fought 35 times, lost his WBA unification bout against Carl Frampton last February. He then moved up to featherweight and stopped Jose Cayetano in the ninth round in December.

"I'd like to thank Joe for everything he has done for me; he is a tremendous coach and friend, which we will remain," Quigg, who worked with Gallagher for six years, added.

"Our first fight together was for the British title and I went on to become world champion under his guidance and for that I will be forever grateful."
