Munroe confident of Terrazas win

Leicester's Rendall Munroe is sure of victory over Victor Terrazas when they meet for a WBC super-bantamweight title eliminator on 23 April. The European champion will fight the Mexican at the Coventry Skydome. Munroe, 29, told BBC East Midlands Today: "I know I'm going to win, I'm very confident. I never underestimate anyone but believe I'm one of the best. "This is the dream. I'm enjoying myself and I'm peeping over the edge and I'm not going to let it slip now." Munroe, who retained his European title for the fifth time with a unanimous points win over Italian Simone Maludrottu in Nottingham in November, says he will be better prepared than he ever has been. He has been given six weeks off from his day job as a bin man and will soon launch into an intensive training programme to get in perfect condition. Munroe, who trains in Derby, is also moving out of the family home to make sure he is totally focused. "I work on the advice of my team. They want me to have six weeks off," Munroe told BBC Radio Leicester. "I've got to prepare myself properly, this is another big step to becoming a world champ and following the dream. "I'm moving out too. It will be full-time preparation, plenty of sleep at night with no kids bickering. I'll get my rest, prepare myself properly, ready to be world champion." Achieving that dream would mean Munroe overcoming Japan's Toshiaki Nishioka, the WBC's super-bantamweight champion. Before then, the formidable Terrazas, who is third in the WBC rankings after winning 25 of his 27 fights, stands in his way. But Munroe added: "It doesn't matter about anyone's record, it's about who's ready on the night and believe me, I'll be ready on the night." Munroe is an inspiration - Maloney "This could change everything. It's been a long time since Leicester had a world title contender and I keep saying I'm going to be Leicester's next world champ." Promoter Frank Maloney told BBC East Midlands Today: "It's the biggest fight of his career to date. "It's his coming of age fight. He has done everything right up until now and this is the hurdle he has got to get across to get to the ultimate prize - the WBC world title. "Rendall is a great character and does the right job in the ring and gives value for money. He's an inspiration to other fighters because he's done it the hard way. There's been no hand-picked opponents, no soft touches."
