Wladimir Klitschko will defend his WBO and IBF heavyweight belts against American Eddie Chambers on 20 March at Duesseldorf's Esprit Arena in Germany.
The 33-year-old Ukrainian, whose brother Vitali holds the WBC belt, last fought in June, when he stopped Ruslan Chagaev in the ninth round.
"Chambers is the best heavyweight boxer in the US and for good reason is ranked top," said Klitschko.
"The fight takes place in a gigantic stadium and I'm looking forward to it."
Chambers, 27, has lost once in a 36-fight career, with 18 of those finishing inside the distance, while Klitschko has three defeats from his 56 bouts.
Have your say on the heavyweight division "Klitschko may be the favourite but I know what I am capable of and I will take a belt collection back home," Chambers said.
The winner of the fight at the 51,000-seater Esprit Arena could face Britain's heavyweight champion David Haye later in the year.
Haye is due to make the first defence of his WBA title against John Ruiz in April.
Haye has previously spoken of his desire to unify the heavyweight division and is also keen to face Vitali in the future.
